Crazy Church People
I absolutely love my church group! Today as we all sat around the table and in the van I realized how much of a family we have become so I figured I could share some quirks about each of my "family members":
Jason: First we have the over-observant-over-caring, big brother who finds it his job to make sure that everyone is "ok." While his big-brotherly attitude is somewhat endearing and almost too good to be true, his sarcasm and slams make you realize that he is truely a brother and not some paranormal freak like you might at first think. Jason is called to the deaf ministry, though he is not deaf, he is dumb (no he has complete ability to speak, but within a few minutes of getting to know him, you'd wish that wasn't true.. lol!) No, in all seriousness, his passion for the deaf ministry has become quite catching and his servant's heart is really uplifting, we need more guys in the world like Jason.
Nate:(I like to call this guy peaches) What can I say about Nate except that he is a born evangelist, we figured this out when he preached and went 15 minutes overtime and no-one really even cared because he was soooo fun to listen to. Nate is one of those people who really has to grow on you, and once you get past the rought "I hate you, don't talk to me" exterior, he is truely a good friend. When I first met Nate he has such a "wonderful" disposistion I called him peaches, now that I know his "peachy'ness" is just his way of "warming" up to you, I've gotten used to it and it has become a highlight of our time spent to gether for me to slam him in anyway possible, I believe he has the same outlook on me because in the middle of his sermon tonight he read a passage of scripture then out of nowhere realized it totally applied to my life and used me as his sermon illustration: No seriously, I've watched Nate become a good leader for our church group and his servant's heart and attitude has convicted me. Even with his tersness and sharp sarcasm, it is evident that Nate has a love for Christ and people and it's something we all need to learn from him.
Ashley: The blonde of the group, I once wondered where she fit in to all of this cuz she does not have the tersness that the rest of us have and yet tonight as she described to us in detail her plan to dictate the world, I realized that that girl is JUST AS MESSED UP AS THE REST OF US! It's amazing but the guys actully are somewhat afraid of this girl, I would like to think it's because of her plot to take over the world, but we all know because she is extremely pretty the guys are a little threatened by her appearance. (Well that's the nice way of putting it) Either way, it's hillarious! In all seriousness, Ashley is sooo much fun! Her imput to some of our "theological solve the problems of the world and our lives" discussions is quite helpful and insightful!
Val: The only native "stoughtinian" we have, Val has been at the church for years so she is the mediator between our strangness and the people of the church. Val is a rock, she is always there and the only one absolutely willing to put up with all of us with a lot of patience. Working with the kids Val is the autority figure and it's quite ammusing to see the looks on the kids faces when we say "You better shape up or your gonna go sit with Val" How wonderful that threat is... hmmm... I wonder why? But honestly, Val is a gem to our church group, she has such a willing heart and helpful hand, no matter what the activity or challenge, Val rises up to it and does whatever she can to help anyone out... it's soo refreshing to see that spirit in people my age.
Tito: Titus Morrow, I would like to classify him as a spiritual overacheiver just because he puts us all to shame in the ministry that he does, but we all know the only reason we think that is because we all fall SOOO short of the mark. On a humorous level Tito is the only one in the van who is not allowed to eat cheese and has somewhat of an obsession with llamas though he would definatly come in last when it comes to sarcasm and tersness... haha the boy is just tooo blasted serious!!!!. On a spiritual level Titus pours himself out in his ministry with the teens. He comes down to Stoughton every friday to visit and take the teens out soul winning and recruiting for the youth group, if only all of us had half the heart for souls that tito has, there would much more evangelizing done in this world.
Tyler: Tyler is the newbe in our group, he started coming this semester and I know him the least out of everyone. I can tell you this much though, I already know what I am getting him for Christmas... A headset for his cell-phone and glue because he is constantly on his phone with his girlfriend so yeah I don't get much time to talk with him. He seems like he has a good heart for God though. Lol, he seemed so proper and polite then he suprised me one day and went into DIRE detail about this bought of the stomach flue; I was scared for life.
Beth: Haha, what can I say it's beth. She should be long gone from maranatha, but apparently God saw fit to stick us with her for four more years. After a horrible life threatening thumb injury, she had to change life paths and here we are! No, in all seriousness, Beth is a valuable asset to our group, she is part comic relief part loyal friend and she give the BEST backrubs. Beth is very talented musically and her willing, soft heart is a addition to our group we cannot afford to lose.
James: He will eat ANYTHING you give him. Lol, I just have one thing to say, if he get's mono it was not my fault and I would rather make out with a llama than him so it wasn't me!!!!! No, James acts all sensitive and put out when we tease him and haha, we tease him a lot, because of something he told us the first day he came to church with us "I read a walk to remember and cried" that kinda got us all started and unfortunatly we couldn't stop laughing so yeah, I sometimes feel bad about teasing then I remember that he gets me back just as good so I don't let it bother me. So it's all good.
Me: Last but certainly not least... ME! Gimpy.. need I say more :)

Awwwwwwwe!!! How nice! Yeah, I've been around forever. But, you gotta do what God wants you to do! Plus, it's nice to have the Christian fellowship...that's partially why I hang out with ya'll so much! Maybe even more next semester. If I move to Watertown, I'll be in the van for the rides to and from church! That's definitely something I've missed out on! I definitely agree with what you say about everybody!
Oh, and I was going to comment on this: under James, you should have put "Val" instead of "a llama." And it's still your fault if he gets mono...everything's your fault!
